The varied and inspiring landscape in and around Lyme Regis offers a bounty of opportunity to exercise creative endeavours.
Using various methods/techniques and materials, these sessions can be as immersive and exciting as you wish!
Each session booked will be tailored to your specific requirements. Beginner or professional, all abilities can be catered for.
These sessions are about finding your inner artist and voice: you have the liberty to explore paint and use other materials whilst being fully supported, guided and encouraged throughout. It’s an exciting journey and can be quite transformative.
Where weather permits, these sessions will take place outside, but can also be indoors or both! The sessions can be taught 1:1, couples or family/friend groups.
I have had the pleasure over the years to work with individuals and groups of all ages and abilities helping them explore paint/drawing/mixed media expressively and with liberty. Using a wealth of personal experience, I work in a unique, exciting and often transformative way. I love nothing more than helping others experience art and the processes that allow for a completely immersive experience . Rest assured you are in very safe hands.
The cost of the painting sessions is as follows:
Max of 2 people – first 2hrs £65 then each subsequent hour £30
Any additional person, please add an extra £30
A limited amount of materials will be available at a small cost. However, upon booking Ruth can advise accordingly.

About Ruth Bateman
Ruth instinctively paints large expressive and often spontaneous landscapes, these reflect her passion and response to the immediate environment around her. Distinct in style, Ruth uses splashes of colour, expressive mark-making and combines a wild energy into each piece. Incorporating various techniques and materials into her work, she seeks to push and challenge the boundaries of traditional painting methodology.
Painting acts as a visual voice or expression, capturing the essence of emotion that is often lost in the fast- paced world of today. With a deep-rooted connection to the landscape, Ruth constantly explores on bike, foot and rock allowing her to immerse herself in her muse.
Ruth’s work is honest and a true reflection of her fascination and intrigue with the natural world. Wild places capture her imagination, from dramatic coastlines to the harsh unforgiving mountains, Ruth constantly seeks the sublime.
Ruth has exhibited throughout the South West and London and teaches her own courses in Devon and for other organisations including schools, mental-health charities and memory cafes. Ruth often works to commission and has been awarded grants for community art projects and also personal endeavours. She is currently a mentee on The Newlyn School of Art program, where she is continuing to watch her work evolve into an exciting and unique direction.
